Int’l Press Academy: Satellite Award nominees

The casual moviegoer can be forgiven for not knowing or keeping track of the Satellite Awards, but don’t let its obscurity make it seem insignificant.

The Satellite Awards are given out by the International Press Academy, which is by far the largest organization when it comes to the entertainment press. Members include full-time entertainment journos and other discerning veterans and individuals from the press. Formerly known as the Golden Satellite Awards, the Satellite Awards honors the most outstanding achievement in film, television and the field of new media.

The Award committee chooses nominees in 22 Film categories, 12 TV categories, 6 DVD categories, and 5 Video Game categories. Listing the nominees for all these categories here could get a little messy, so click over to their nominee page that has the nominee list for this year neatly coded into tabs for your browsing pleasure.

The winners will be announced at the award ceremony on December 14th at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, California.

Nikhil Charan is currently buried under back issues of NME, Wallpaper and GQ. He aims for total world domination, writes one too many passive aggressive notes, drinks too much, swears too often, and rocks back and forth to the annoyance of everybody. He loves metafiction, and Fellini's 8 ½ tops the list.
